Best on the Gold Coast!

Last Friday night the Housing Industry Association (HIA) held their annual Gold Coast and Northern Rivers Housing and Kitchen & Bathroom Awards ceremony, and we were honoured with winning their ‘Innovation in Housing’ award.

This award encourages and recognises builders who demonstrate an innovative approach to housing design and construction and are particularly ‘brave’ in pushing the boundaries and exploring new approaches. The New Hampshire 33 demonstrates innovation in design through its creativity and originality including the use of materials and construction techniques.

The New Hampshire 33 is a brand-new design that was launched in 2020, which was developed to bring a narrow-lot Hamptons style home to the market. Carefully crafted to fit a 10m+ lot width, this home is a different kind of innovation. It uses every inch of space, and for a narrow lot – it still packs a punch.

The key space saving features of this home include placing the butler’s pantry below the staircase, placing the pool below the top deck outdoor living area and maximising storage space by introducing built in storage solutions. High ceilings, oversized windows and double doors which integrate the outdoors with the indoors, all work together to create a sense of space.

With James Hardie™ products like Linea™ weatherboard being a key element of the design and build process, the construction team at Coral Homes were able to leverage smart building practices to reclaim space. Linea Weatherboards allowed us to eliminate the need for a 150mm cavity and brick work thanks to the space-saving nature of the weatherboards. And it’s that extra edge that helps gives the New Hampshire 33 its remarkably spacious feel.

The New Hampshire 33 pushes the spatial boundaries further by two homes being developed on a subdivided lot. That’s right, we’ve done a knock down and rebuild of twin New Hampshire 33’ (each on their own 10m wide narrow lot) to demonstrate the abundance of space in this home and potential opportunity to the market.

Our Product Design Manager Mike Smith explains the company’s approach on product development which lends us to win awards in innovation “At Coral Homes, we place a huge emphasis on responding to design trend forecasts and changing customer lifestyles to evolve our range of home designs. By continually adapting to customer and developer trends and working closing with our suppliers, we are able to uphold our promise to provide innovative home designs.”

This ever-evolving product suite and focus on innovation assists us with maintaining our position as Queensland’s largest builder*.
