Some creative ways to spend new years eve at home with your family
Depending on where you are in Australia, spending your NYE at home in isolation might not necessarily be your first choice, but that is exactly what you will be doing due to COVID-19 restrictions. Alternatively, spending new years at home (especially if you have just moved into your new Coral Home) with your family might be exactly what you want to celebrate your massive achievement!
Either way, we have five fun ideas to share with you that are sure to make this NYE in your Coral Home a fab one:
Backyard camping
We saw this fad take off particularly over Easter when a family camping trip is a traditional favourite, but all the COVID-19 restrictions were in place. If you didn’t get to try it then, why not give it a crack now with the family? Grab a tent, stock your fire pit (if you have one), roll out the sleeping bags and settle in for some outdoor fun! Especially since the weather is so nice and warm now! You could write down all the things you want to let go of from 2020 and throw them in the fire pit for some personal therapy. Byeeeeeee!
Family game night
For families with younger kids, just making it to midnight on New Year’s Eve can be quite a feat. Keep everyone happy with a big pile of board or card games to choose from, tasty finger foods and festive drinks – soft drinks or juice for the kids, champagne for the grown-ups. You could even start a new game every hour as you count down together to the grand finale – midnight!
Flashback photo/movie night
Prepare a slide show of photos from throughout the year or play all your videos to reminisce on ‘the year that was’ in 2020! Not only will this provide hours of entertainment and laughs, but this is also sure to put you in a sentimental mood – ready to say goodbye to 2020 and hello to 2021 at midnight.
Dream big!
If you are a dreamer or a planner than this idea will be right up your alley. Dream big for 2021 and spend New Year’s Eve planning your future goals. Start with the question ‘where do you want to be in 5, 10, 15 years’?, then create a road map of how you’ll get there. If you a visual person, you can create mood boards to support your road map and provide a constant visual motivation for achieving your dreams. You could include financial, health, travel or individual goals during your ‘Dream Big’ new years evening. Whatever is important to you and your family.
Have a themed dress up party
Nothing puts everyone in a fun mood (especially the kids) more than a dress party! Once you pick your theme you can decorate the house, get dressed up in your costumes and have some serious fun. You could play music, dance and eat some yummy food, plus everyone’s outfits will make for some great family photos!
