Happy Lunar New Year!
Also known as Chinese New Year or Spring Festival, Lunar New Year started on February 1, 2022 and marks the start of the New Year on the Chinese calendar.
Each year in the 12-year recurring zodiac cycle, is represented by a zodiac animal, each with its own well-known attributes.
The order is Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Chicken, Dog and Pig; and 2022 is the Year of the Tiger.
It’s interesting to know each person has an animal that corresponds with the year they were born which can reveal important traits and details about their life. Find out what your Chinese Zodiac animal is here.
As a tiger year, 2022 will be associated with the animal’s attributes of bravery, confidence and strong will.
And that couldn’t be more relevant for everyone continuing to live through the pandemic.
Coral Homes is excited to embrace the Year of the Tiger, noting the #1 unofficial tip from the Lunar New Year rule book is to focus on the positive.
During Lunar New Year, which lasts for up to 15 days (culminating in the Lantern Festival), many traditional celebrations occur such as wearing red or displaying red lanterns as a sign of joy; senior family members giving red envelopes of money to younger ones; and cleaning and decorating the house to rid it of back luck.
Family reunion dinners are also held on the eve of the Lunar New Year.
While other festivities including dancing dragons or lions, accompanied by the beating of drums, are said to banish evil spirits.
