It's Beach Meets Bush

Don’t let the surrounding gum trees and bushland fool you. Coral Homes customers Carlie and Greg have created a Hamptons sanctuary with stunning coastal accents to bring the beach to the bush.

“It’s a bit odd,” Carlie says with a smile of their Dayboro home. “Obviously, we live in the country, but I like that {coastal look that} sets us apart from other homes. It’s cool, open, fresh. I don’t think it’s going to date.” Greg agrees: “That’s always been a theme in our relationship. We’ve always gravitated towards the beach and the Coast. With Carlie’s photography work, always being outdoors, and tying into nature.” The young family-of-five knew from the beginning they wanted to build with Coral Homes.

“We came back to the first home we looked at with Coral, out at their North Harbour display village,” says Greg.

They’re of course talking about the stunning and spacious Lisbon 31 with East Hamptons façade.

“It’s the first house we fell in love with and after looking at a thousand others, we realized that was still the house for us,” Greg continues. The couple chose the single-storey home with multiple living areas to cater to their busy household. It was important for their three children – Madden (12), Oakley (10) and four-year-old Cleo known as “the mischief maker” – to be able to play.

“The kids needed areas to spread out,” Carlie explains. “And we needed quiet areas to relax in”.

Greg points out the IT hub is setup as a space for the kids to do their gaming, conveniently tucked away from the heart of the home. Featuring three separate living areas indoors, plus an outdoor living space – the decision to build the Lisbon 31 was a no-brainer. Faced with a lot of promotions and offers from other builders regarding inclusions, there was only one factor that swayed Carlie and Greg in Coral Homes’ direction.

“At the end of the day, it really came down to value-for-money with the inclusions,” says Greg. “All the fixtures and fittings were of a high standard, so we didn’t really find that we were upgrading things like taps or tapware, vanities or basins.”

Carlie explains they had a head start on picking all the fun hard finishes to give their home a coastal vibe. “We were able to visit the showroom before we had our appointment, which was great, so we could see exactly what we were getting,” she says.

The building process for Carlie and Greg was seamless; from their initial colour selections appointment to the final handover, their experience with Coral Homes was a positive one. “We haven’t had any issue with the entire process. Coral hit their timeframes and budgets and we haven’t had any delays. The standard of work has been exemplary,” says Greg. “Handover was the week we were supposed to get it. And Emily who was our supervisor was here outside of regular work hours doing that extra little bit to get us where we needed to be so we’re very happy.”

Home Features:

Most importantly, the home suits Carlie and Greg’s lifestyle. Whether they’re entertaining friends outdoors, retreating to watch sports indoors, or swimming in the pool, there’s plenty of space for maximum livability. “The open-plan of the house ties well from the outside to the inside and it does capture that lifestyle,” says Greg. “It’s nice to have people around in the summertime. Some will be in the pool, some will be outside having a chat, some will be in the kitchen preparing food, and it’s just a nice blend of all of that.”

An interesting design point to note is that the modern glass pool fence means views over the picturesque mountains remain unobstructed from their house.

“I would absolutely recommend Coral to our friends and family,” says Carlie. “I’ve got a friend building with them. And I invite people who are building to come and view our home and see what they can get. We built through COVID, and had no delays, which was amazing.”
