When’s the best time of year to start your build?
Detailed planning goes a long way when you are building a new home. Timing in particular can be the most important aspect of the planning phase. Ensuring your timing is right for the building stages can have a significant impact on your budget and overall timeline. Whether it’s lining up the build with moving back home temporarily, or even timing an annual bonus you’re expecting for one of the bigger payments due – there’s loads of reasons to pay careful attention to the timing. We also have some of our own reasons that we think may be beneficial for you to take into consideration.
Avoid the rainy seasons if possible
For obvious reasons, rain can delay a lot of the build. If you can plan to avoid the few weeks of the year that usually see a high volume of rain in the area you’re building, this may make a huge difference to your timeline. If your build period falls right in the middle of a predictably rainy period, it may be worth preparing for some unexpected delays. This could be as easy as putting away a few more weeks’ worth of rent just in case there are some unforeseen delays and you get to handover a little later than expected (on account of the poor weather conditions).
Be mindful of our Christmas shut down period
Our outstanding Construction team work very hard throughout the year and earn themselves a much-needed break with their families over Christmas. Our Head Office teams also operate on skeleton staff the week of Christmas and the week of New Years Eve. We do our best to avoid scheduling any builds that will fall within this period – to avoid inconveniences to our customers. This is something to be mindful of when you are planning your build timeline. It might be worth seeing if you can push your build back slightly or bring it forward slightly (if possible) to avoid an overlap of our Christmas shut down.
